my friend, the mighty scott duebber, raises the question in his blog “did God create liberals” and it reminded me of a very funny photo lise and i took during our summer 2005 vacation.

we drove from cincinnati to viriginia beach to assateague island to baltimore taking back roads exclusively. as we drove through a small town in west virginia, the following billboard was seen. i thought it was so funny that i just had to pull over, laugh HARD and then, of course, snap a picture.

here you go:
why was this so funny? i dunno. it just seemed kinda crybaby-ish, like a kid who doesn’t get picked for for kickball on the playground. i can see the kid’s face scrunch up as he folds his arms over his chest, stomps one foot in the dirt and says, near tears, “Hah! Well, Democrats are Christians, too!” as he runs off to find someplace to cry alone.

as i sit down to explain the sequence of events from this past 24 hour period, i come to find that it has already been documented. by the prank-ee, no less.

and kudos to JW for being such a good sport. the balance of my academic life teeters precariously in his grip. but as noted earlier – there’s nothing to fear.

now, being 36 years old, i can remember back in the day having questions about this or that and being told by my parents to go get the encyclopedia or the dictionary and look up the topic or word that i had a question about and finding my own answers. sometimes these books didn’t contain the answers i sought, at which point i was free to either drop it or go to the library and find a book that might explain.

so, why this post?

living in the digital age with all sorts of internet resources (among other things), it surprises me to no end the amount of questions i receive from folks who don’t know what to do to get answers. they somehow think i know everything (a myth i’m not against propagating) when in fact, i fire up google (or one of a host of other resources) and give them the answer in less time than it took them to IM me and ask.

all this leads me to two things: this fine cartoon (that has no copyright information except my thanks to Matt Groening for Bart) and the suggestion that if you’re unsure of the meaning of “propagate” you can click here to find it.
